One packaging project I was thrilled to get at Exploding Kittens was Power Hungry Pets. I was so inspired by the art and theme of pets fighting for the throne, I decided to tell that story on each side of the box using weapons and characters from previous versions of the cover. Below: One character I wanted to salvage from a previous cover mockup was this sneaky cat. I had the idea to marry the side thumb notches with this cat silhouette to enhance the sneakiness, and act as a fun "peekaboo" moment for customers to enjoy when they open the game.
Left: While this was not the final art for the card back, the theme of the fight for royalty inspired me to create these options resembling traditional poker card line work.
